Privacy policy

Sala Team is an internal app made by Sala Studio Limited (Auckland, New Zealand) for the people who teach and work at our studio. It shows you your schedule, lets you ask for and offer cover for classes, and keeps you informed. We handle personal information under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

What we hold about you

• Who you are. Your name and email address, taken from the studio's own records, and your mobile number if you have given it to us.
• Your work at the studio. The classes you teach or cover, what you are able to teach, and your cover team. This comes from our timetable system, Codexfit.
• What you do in the app. Cover requests you make or accept, the notifications we send you, and your notification settings.
• Your sign-in. A short code we email you each time you sign in on a new phone, and a token that keeps that phone signed in. We do not use passwords.
• Your phone, for notifications. If you allow notifications, a notification token for your phone.

Who else handles it

• Our systems run on a server operated by our hosting provider.
• Sign-in codes are sent by our email provider, Resend.
• Notifications reach your phone through Apple's and Google's notification services, which receive the notification text and your device's token, not your name.

We do not sell or share your information for marketing, and the app has no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.

Calendar

If you add your classes to your calendar, we give you a private link that your calendar app uses to fetch your own classes. Anyone who has that link can see those classes, so keep it to yourself. We can replace it if you think it has been shared.

How long we keep it

While you are part of the team. When you leave, you are removed from the roster, you can no longer sign in, and we remove your sign-in details and notification tokens. We keep a record of past classes and cover for the studio's payroll and accounts.

Your rights and contact

You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@sala.studio. If you are not happy with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).
